Waypoints provides professional support and hands on intervention to Foster Parents residing from St. John’s to Corner Brook. This program recognizes and respects the current skills and expertise of Foster Parents, including the PRIDE competencies. Foster Parents participate in the program voluntarily as it is designed to compliment existing skills and offer new strategies for ongoing personal and professional development. This program was developed in partnership with Foster Families NL and is funded by the Department of Social Supports and Well-Being.
While Waypoints only provides hands on intervention to foster parents in specified jurisdictions, they offer monthly online training sessions to all foster parents.
For further information on the foster family support program or online training sessions, contact Renee Piercey, program coordinator, at 709-368-3564 or reneepiercey@waypointsnl.ca.
