Support Services

Today, in our province there is critical shortage of foster homes. Homes like yours.

Required Training

Foster parents are required to complete 27 hours of PRIDE Preservice training as part of the approval process to become a foster parent. Social workers also work with approved foster parents to identify their training and education needs, and assist foster parents in accessing the training and education resources that they require. The Newfoundland and Labrador Foster Families Association provides training opportunities for foster families and the Department of Children, Seniors and Social Developement is also committed to providing additional training as needed.
